Please help me raise funds for CANCER RESEARCH UK by buying one of my books!

I was born in Glasgow, but brought up in Kent. I studied languages, then moved to France to work as a secretary with Interpol. When I returned to the UK, I joined Strathclyde Police (now Police Scotland). On retiring from the police, I studied creative writing at Glasgow University and pursued an interest in Spiritualism and Psychical Research. In 2020, I became president of the Glasgow Association of Spiritualists. I retired from this position in 2024 to concentrate further on my writing.
As well as spiritualist books, I write historical non-fiction (social history) and fiction (adventure and crime), and my books to-date can be found on this site. Purchases should be made through: Amazon.co.uk : caroline allana scott series. My royalties will be donated to: Donate To Beat Cancer | Cancer Research UK
During my time as president, I created an absent healing list, which I still maintain. It has been through this, that I have been made aware of just how many individuals and families have been affected by cancer. If you wish to be added, please contact me at: scott.caroline@hotmail.co.uk.
Meantime, let's do our best to help conquer cancer.

For those of you who like to sit back and enjoy a good mystery with a paranormal theme, this is an ideal choice. The year is 1939, and the world is under the threat of Nazi domination. War seems inevitable, and when Bette Milligan, from the magazine Amber St Claire, is sent to Cairo on a secret assignment, she soon finds herself in over her head. She has been assigned to investigate Nazi Occultism and its rumoured links to the Nazi Lebensborn programme: Aryan baby farms. But Bette has her own issues to deal with, not helped by the fact she has Tourette's Syndrome. When she meets the aloof Captain Bentley Ford-Jenkins of British Army Intelligence, they are forced to work together. The pair soon clash, but when their investigation leads to hidden secrets lurking in Bette's own family, she starts to wonder why she was sent to investigate in the first place.

THANK YOU.

'There have been a lot of books written which document the bravery of the pioneers, who fought for the freedom to follow their truth. This book is more than that. "Stories of the Pioneers" is a journey through the ages of mediumship and psychic practices that exist all over the world, showing the common link that has always existed. It covers the bravery of our pioneers, who wanted the truth of life eternal told, and the researchers, who started out wanting to disprove and discredit the truth but, ultimately, became our biggest supporters. The truth should always be told, and you should be prepared to listen.'

'This is a fascinating book that gives a deeply personal account of grief, loss and the journey of discovery of life beyond this one. It shows the intelligence of Spirit, and how they give evidence of life eternal. It never fails to inspire and humble me, the lengths our loved ones will go to, to bring each of us the hope we need. This books shows the true reason for Mediumship and Spiritualism - and the power of Spirit to heal and illuminate each of us, so that we can help others.'

'What a pleasure to read this book. In an era of celebrity mediumship, it is so refreshing to read about the dedication of a medium, whose only motive was to serve. This is a book that humbles the soul. It takes the reader through the process of a home circle and the dedication of the sitters, as they allow the Spirit World to blend for the trance state. It is a testament to the power of the home circle, where our true mediums built their relationship with that unseen world, learning together, to build an atmosphere of love and trust. This book is a must for those who want to learn the discipline of good mediumship and the beautiful relationship with those who walk with us.'

My father was a medical doctor, spending the final part of his working years in general practice in Kent (England). He did, however, have a very good knowledge of tropical medicine, having lived seven years in Assam, India, caring for the workforces on a number of different tea gardens during the 1950s. But he didn’t just treat his patients, he also researched into different methods of malaria control, documenting his findings in published papers, and commenting on them in a series of letters he wrote to his parents during his time in India.
When Dad died in 2004, Mum presented me with a pile of airmail correspondence, which turned out to be the letters to his parents, written between 1951 and 1958. As I read them, I quickly realised just how valuable they were, not only from a medical perspective, but from a geographic, economic and social one. Mum had never actually read the letters, so when I disclosed the contents to her, she made some very interesting comments. She also drew my attention to a photograph album she had compiled during their time in India, and as I went through it, I realised that not only did Dad’s letters provide an account of a bygone era, the photographs, together with Mum’s added observations and souvenirs, provided me with an additional resource, allowing me to restore a forgotten part of history, and compare it to the present.
The Assam Diaries gives a factual account of these letters.

When my mother presented me with the pile of my father's letters, written between 1951 and 1958, she became very interested in his reference to the SS Batory – a Polish communist vessel – and made the following remark:
“Two men with long black coats and funny black hats, carrying attaché cases, were prancing around. I kept asking your dad who they were, and he kept telling me to keep quiet. I still don’t know who were the goodies and who were the baddies, but the captain went on to jump ship, never to be seen again!”
Well, that did it!
Not only did I have to publish the letters (The Assam Diaries: Medicine on a Tropical Tea Estate during the 1950s), I had to write a cold war thriller (A Tea Doctor in Assam).
I must point out that the real captain’s (Jan Cwiklinski) adventures totally differ from those of the fictional character, Fryderyk Kowalczyk’s (see: The Captain Leaves his Ship as told to Hawthorne Daniel). As well as that, there are numerous tea planters and their wives mentioned in the letters, so to avoid confusion, I have merged them into one fictitious couple: Dan and Katy Tyler.
The letters also often refer to three doctors, who supported Dad during his time in India: Professor George Macdonald of the Ross Institute and Hospital for Tropical Medicine (later, President of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene); Dr Alan Gilroy, Principal of the India Branch of the Ross Institute and Hospital for Tropical Medicine; and Doctor Hay Arthur, Medical Officer on a tea garden in Dooars, West Bengal, India. In the letters, Dad expresses his gratitude for their encouragement, as he fought to overcome the ever-present obstacles facing him throughout his time in Assam. In the fictional story, these illustrious gentlemen become one: Dr Goodwin.
A Tea Doctor in Assam is a cold war thriller and will be on sale soon!

I am a member of the Garnethill Writers' Group, which is run by Dr Cathy McSporran of Glasgow University. I'd like to thank Cathy and the group for all their help.
Furthermore, I'd like to thank CANCER RESEARCH UK for all their research. My mother (photo to left) had breast cancer, but one small pill, taken daily, reduced the size of the tumour, and when she died in 2021, aged 98 years, it was from an unrelated illness.
I also have friends and acquaintances who have recovered from cancer because of the research carried out. Sadly, some have passed away.
It is so important to keep funding the research.
